I've decided that I shall answer these with what I think the answer Should be, disregarding the actual facts... nor looking up anything if I don't know the answer...
1) What is the full, official name of the city Josh and I are currently living in? What does it translate as, and what is noteworthy about the name?
Full name: The Republic city of Pad Bangkok-vonhapsenburgervilleton.
Translation, the peanut city of smelly cheese graters
Noteworthy: It is used as a place of travel in more porn videos than any other city.
2) Particularly hot Thai chilies are known as /phrik khii nuu./ What does this translate as?
Translation: Burning Butthole (of) Lava
Little known fact: an anagram for phrik khii nuu. is" riu hiik kuphn!".... I get a real kick out of that.
3) Which Thai author won a World Fantasy Award in 2002, and what is his other job?
Name: (say out loud) Singh Low SinghHy
Other Job: He works a a male Chippendale dancer at a all night sushi and mmorpg club,
Little known fact: Before becoming the dancer he was the first man to hike the Himalayan trail with dirty underwear on his head, an act he now recreates through interpretive dance on stage.

Okay, you get a Dishonorable Mention. No physical prize, but you get the distinction of being officially dubbed Full of Krap.
Actually, the Thai language is full of krap, at least for guys. The "polite particle" as used by male speakers to finish sentences is khrap (which ends up sounding like khap, at least in Bangkok). This particle can also be used as a shortcut phrase to acknowledge something, say hello, etc. politely.
So when we walk out of our apartment building, the doorman greets us with "Khrap".
Good for the ego, let me tell you...
I do not know what the long name for Bangkok means but I have a picture of the sign of it.
The translation for thai chilis must mean beads of sweat that pop out on your forehead.
